A student should be able to learn each subject to the maximum in order to be able to apply it in everyday life. By studying hard, a student will be able to excel in academic terms. But of course there are other things that can be a factor in student achievement. One of them is because of the high self-confidence.
Lauster (in Ghufron & Risnawita, 2012) defines self-confidence obtained from life experiences. Self-confidence is an aspect in the form of belief in one’s ability so that it is not influenced by others and can act according to the will, happy, optimistic, tolerant enough, and responsible. According to Hakim (in Polpoke, 2004) simply reveals that self-confidence is a person’s belief in all aspects of one’s strengths and that belief feels capable of achieving various goals in life. Meanwhile, according to Ahira in Navindi (2015) suggests that learning achievement and the learning process are very closely related and to determine the learning achievement of a student, an evaluation of the material provided is usually carried out.
According to Komara (2016) Self-confidence is very influential and determines the success of students in their lives. Self-confidence greatly affects success in study and work, in the family environment, and in social relationships with others. Individuals who have good self-confidence have confidence and always try to develop their potential to the maximum and show the best of themselves as evidenced by an achievement.
Based on research conducted by Komara (2016) regarding the Relationship between Self-Confidence with Learning Achievement and Student Career Planning, the results showed that there was a positive relationship between self-confidence and learning achievement with career planning in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Bantul. Furthermore, research by Vandini (2015) on the Role of Confidence in Students’ Mathematics Learning Achievement found that self-confidence on mathematics learning achievement had a strong and significant influence.
By increasing self-confidence in the director, it can improve learning achievement in the future. Therefore, students must be able to recognize themselves better so that they are able to raise and increase self-confidence.
