Communication is one of the ways that humans can interact with each other. By communicating too, a person can understand the intent and purpose to be expressed. According to Skinner, communication is a verbal or symbolic behavior in which the actor tries to get the desired effect. Communication can function to convey information, as a messenger so that it can be accepted by the wider community or related, as a form of interaction with other people, to add insight and knowledge about something and various other things. Meanwhile, the purpose of communication is so that what is conveyed can be understood well enough, to be able to understand the meaning of other people’s words, and so that ideas, ideas and personal thoughts can be accepted by others, especially in certain meetings. But unfortunately, there are still many people who have not been able to communicate in a good and correct way.

In simple terms, public speaking can be defined as the process of speaking to a group of people with the aim of informing, influencing (persuading) and/or entertaining the audience. Many people refer to public speaking as a “presentation”. Like all forms of communication, public speaking has several basic elements that are parallel to the communication model proposed by Laswell, namely the communicator (speaker), message (presentation content), communicant (listener/audience), medium, and effect (impact of presentation on the audience). audience). The purpose of public speaking varies, ranging from transmitting information, motivating people, or simply telling stories. According to Girsang (2018), public speaking is understood as a technique of delivering messages in front of the public. Scientifically, public speaking itself is part of the science of communication. This is because communication is a process of interaction to relate from one party to another. If you look at the historical trajectory, the beginning of the communication process is very simple, starting from a number of abstract ideas/thoughts in one’s brain to search for data/deliver information, then packaged into a message. The message can then be conveyed either directly or indirectly, one of which is by communicating in front of a large audience which is known as public speaking.
