The industrial era 4.0 emphasizes revolution that increasingly empowers existing technology. The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 is an era full of challenges because it involves digital processes such as the use of technology that converts analog processes into digital. Of course, this will be a challenge for an organization to face the era of industry 4.0. This is because in the digital era everything becomes faster so that innovation and agility are the two main points in order to survive in industry 4.0. Agility can be seen from how much our ability to multitask. Speed, accuracy and agility in making decisions are one of the crucial skills in the industrial era 4.0. therefore a certain ability is needed so that an organization is able to face the industrial era 4.0.
Leadership is defined as a process that causes others to take action to achieve a common goal. There is a contrast between leadership and dictatorship. Dictators pursue others to act with physical violence or threats under physical force. Some dictators believe in using leadership characteristic activities such as offering a vision (Edwin A. Locke in Soliha and Hersugondo, 2008).
According to Soliha and Hersugondo (2008) Leadership skills play an important role in organizations. The success or failure of an organization is determined by the existing resources in the organization. In addition, a very important factor is the leadership factor. The main role of leadership is influencing others to achieve the goals that have been set.
With bad leadership, an organization will not run smoothly. Therefore we need a way to improve the quality of leadership abilities in organizations. One way that can be done to improve leadership skills is by providing training.
Mathis (2002:5), which provides a definition of “Training is a process where people achieve certain abilities to help achieve organizational goals, therefore, this process is tied to various organizational goals, training can be viewed narrowly or broadly”. On the other hand, the definition of training according to Andrew F.Sikula in Mangkunegara, (2000:43) defines training as follows: “Training is a short term educational process utilizing systematic and organized procedure by which non managerial personnel learn technical knoeledge ang skill for a definite purpose”.
